Yes. You can invest in P2P Lending investments through a SSAS
We know that saving for retirement can be difficult, which is why we are pleased to be able to provide our investments through a SSAS pension wrapper. A SSAS is a tax-efficient, pension-based form of investing.
BondMason has teamed up with the Whitehall Group, an expert administrator of SSASs, to provide a market leading service for SSAS trustees wishing to invest in our P2P Lending investments.
What is a SSAS (Small Self Administered Scheme)
A SSAS is a form of occupational Pension Scheme for the directors of limited companies. Schemes are trust-based and established individually.
You can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 020 3126 6705, or you can contact a member of the Whitehall Group who can help to get you up and running. Please mention "BondMason" when talking with the Whitehall Group.
How much does it cost?
We are able to offer investment through a SSAS at the same low price as our BondMason Investment Account: 1.0% p.a.
Whitehall Group are a specialist provider of SSAS, and are able to offer packages from just £250+VAT p.a. Their fees vary depending on the number of members of the SSAS and the investment structure of the SSAS fund.
What are the tax benefits of a SSAS
SSAS registered with HMRC can benefit from tax exemption. Investments are usually free of Capital Gains Tax and Income Tax. Contributions to the SSAS may also receive tax-relief. Basic rate tax relief cannot be claimed by the SSAS itself, so all tax would be claimed through the self-assessment tax return of the individual. Usually a SSAS is funded through pension contributions from the sponsoring employer(s).
Who uses them
Many private pension investors who operate limited companies will use a SSAS instead of a SIPP, as they can be more flexible than a SIPP in terms of eligible investments, and offer greater benefits.
Coming soon: investing through a SIPP
Eligibility: P2P Debt Investments are generally eligible investments through a SIPP. However, our investment structure is slightly different in some cases to a basic P2P Investment - but we can discuss this with your SIPP provider
Timing: we have submitted an application to the FCA for regulatory permissions that will allow us to provide investments through a SIPP. This should be ready during 2016.
We are very happy to talk to your SSAS or SIPP administrator to see if they are able to include BondMason investments in your existing pension wrapper.
Please contact us at email@example.com if you have any questions.
Neither BondMason nor the Whitehall Group are able to offer any advice as to the suitability of P2P Lending investments for your SSAS. You may wish to consult a financial adviser or accountant who may be able to assist with determining if this is right for you
